Ken Cowan was born and raised in Fort Smith, and knows the area and its people well. He earned his bachelors degree and law degree from the University of Arkansas. He has practiced for over 24 years, and is admitted to practice law in the states of Arkansas and Oklahoma. His areas of practice include Civil Litigation, Bankruptcy Law (for both creditors and debtors), Commercial Law, Real Estate, and Probate. Mr. Cowan is a member of the Sebastian County, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and American Bar Associations. He is also a member of the Debtor-Creditor Bar of Central Arkansas, and the National Arbitration Forum’s national panel of independent and neutral arbitrators and mediators.
Mr. Cowan counsels clients in a variety of civil and business matters, and enjoys helping people navigate through legal issues and solve their problems without need for litigation, when possible. When it is not possible for them to do so, however, he believes in being a firm advocate, so as to protect and enforce the interests of clients faced with courtroom litigation.
Mr. Cowan is a family man, who believes in being involved with church, school, and community activities. A former high school all-state and college clarinet player, Mr. Cowan has remained close to instrumental music, through his son and daughter’s involvement in band, and by serving as co-president of a band parents organization. In his spare time, he loves to be outdoors. Camping and his passion, cycling, are among his favorite pastimes.
