C. Brian Meadors
cbmeadors@prbslaw.com
Brian Meadors prefers the courtroom. His practice is primarily civil litigation -- jury trials -- and is evenly split between Plaintiffs and Defendants. Being on both sides has given Brian a good perspective about the realities of litigation, and this helps him advise his clients. Brian also does a fair amount of family law, including contentious trust and probate litigation.
Many of Brian's cases have been unusual enough to spark media interest. He represented fourth-grader Miss Dakota Counts in her successful lawsuit against the Cedarville School District for banning Harry Potter books. He represented Van Buren teachers in their successful class action lawsuit for back wages. In Huber v. Wal-Mart, Brian's case was accepted by the U.S. Supreme Court; subsequently the parties entered into a confidential settlement. Other cases include a congregational split at a Buddhist temple, a homeowner's association's lawsuit concerning bobcats as pets, and keeping video games from being confiscated by an overzealous prosecutor.
In 2009, the Arkansas Supreme Court appointed Brian to the State Board of Bar Examiners.
Brian is a former nuclear submarine naval officer and graduate, cum laude, of Georgetown Law. A Fort Smith native, graduating from Southside in 1987, he lives in Fort Smith with his wife Erika and their two children, Gus and Tabitha. Erika has chosen not to practice law, but from time to time she will use her Harvard Law degree and superior intellect to assist Brian on a case.
